OLD DOMINION PUG DOG CLUB

Dedicated to Preserving the Pug Standard Through Responsible Breeding

About Us

Approximately 20 years ago a small group of individuals committed to preserving the Pug standard through participation in conformation and performance events, decided to form the Old Dominion Pug Dog Club. Spearheaded by Jean Dickerson and Rhettalou Isaksen, the club’s original membership only represented Virginia residents. Since that time, the membership roster has expanded to include members from Texas to Florida, although the bulk of our members still reside in the Virginia/Maryland area.
The ODPDC is one of 20 chapter clubs from around the country in the Pug Dog Club of America, which serves as the American Kennel Club’s parent club for the Pug breed. We are now licensed by the AKC to conduct Pug matches, conformation shows, and agility, obedience, and rally trails. In addition, many of our members have gained national recognition as Pug breeders having produced some of the finest Pugs in the country. Several of our members have exhibited pugs that are nationally ranked among the best dogs in AKC competition.

Our members are always willing to educate the public about this wonderful breed and encourage people who share the same passion for breed preservation to consider joining our club.
