Their willingness to please their owners and their desire to be in constant connection with them, allows pugs the capability to take direction and achieve success in a variety of performance events. Your pug does not have to be conformationally perfect and these events can be entered with pugs that have limited registration and/or are spayed or neutered. The ones listed below are just a few that our members are involved in however the AKC has even more performance events that the pug owner can participate in and earn ribbons and titles.

Obedience

Pugs admittedly are not the most common breed seen at obedience events. Their stubbornness and independence can be detriments in this kind of competition. On the other hand, pugs are also intelligent, and many pugs have earned advance obedience titles.

if you have a pug that easily learns and obeys commands and has calm disposition, obedience events may a good option. Obedience training also can help with any other event types you might be considering. Ready to get started?
