Election to Membership:

a) To be eligible for membership, the applicant must attend two regularly scheduled General meetings.

b) Each applicant for regular membership shall apply on a form as approved by the Board of Directors and which shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by the constitution and by-laws and the rules of The American Kennel Club. The application shall state the name, address, and occupation of the applicant and it shall carry the endorsement of two members in good standing, who have known the applicant for a minimum of 1 year. Accompanying the application, the prospective member shall submit dues payment for the current year and sign the Code of Ethics.

c) All applications will be submitted to the Membership Chairperson. The membership chairperson will interview the applicant and subsequently present the application to the Board. A copy of the application will be sent to the secretary. Upon approval by the Board of Directors, membership applications will be voted on at the next regularly scheduled General meeting. Applicants shall not be present at that meeting but should attend the next regularly scheduled General meeting. If attendance is not possible, it is incumbent upon the applicant to notify the Membership Chairperson in writing- (email is an acceptable format).

d) Affirmative votes of 2/3 of the voting members at the meeting shall be required to elect an applicant to membership. Voting will be done by written ballot

and the secretary will notify the applicant before the next meeting of the election results

e) Applicants for membership who have been rejected by the club may not reapply within six months after rejection.
